After fully debating the issue members unanimously voiced their opposition to the Conservative plans and passed a motion to support UNISON and to fight against the Tory proposals to sell off jobs and services and calling for a public consultation. ![]() Constituency vice Chair, Roy Raby, says “The timing is good as the people of Clacton will have the opportunity to vote on the Conservative privatisation proposals in the forthcoming County Council elections. Labour will send out strong support for UNISON and will do everything possible to protect our jobs and services.” UNISON is leading the campaign to prevent the Conservative run Essex County Council from pushing through their deeply unpopular privatisation programme and local Labour Party members will be helping to ensure that Unison’s message is heard by the residents of Clacton. Clacton’s Labour Parliamentary candidate, Ivan Henderson, says “The message is a simple one. This privatisation is unpopular and it is wrong. The proposals will damage services for the people of Essex and it is extremely arrogant for the County Council to press ahead without a public consultation. I hope that local people will join us in showing our support for the thousands of public sector workers whose futures are being placed in jeopardy by these Conservative proposals.” For further information please contact Jon Salisbury on 01255 821829 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
